| Rare Target Detection Overview
Circulating
tumor cells (CTC) can be present in whole blood at concentrations
at or below 1 in 109 peripheral blood cells (PBC). EpiSep
XRC™ is a patented method that allows for direct recovery
and detection of CTC at low levels using Xenographic Retention
Chromatography. EpiSep XRC™ Tumor Cell Recovery kits
provide the simplest and most advanced method for detection
and quantitation of circulating tumor cells.
Example – EpiSep
XRC™, How It Works
Specimen and reagents are added
directly to the EpiSep XRC™
Slide. There are no transfer steps that can lose rare cells.
Reagents that allow CTC to be
identified by morphology, nucleation,
and cytokeratin 8/18 immunofluorescence are included with
the EpiSep XRC™
EpCAM Tumor Cell Recovery kit. Once reagent addition
is complete
no magnetic field is necessary and EpiSep can be viewed, handled
and stored
in the same manner as other conventional immunofluorescent
slide preparations.
