UltraScreen™

UltraScreen™ is a new strategic and tactical approach to drug discovery which results from integrating comprehensive and simultaneous leading edge assays of sorted homogeneous cell sub-populations as early as possible in the discovery process.

Early interrogation of sorted target cells will allow sub-population analysis and efficacy assessment to occur at the beginning of the product development cycle, thereby minimizing the risks associated with committing massive resources to sub-optimal target compounds.

EpiSep™, the core of The UltraPlatform™ system, enables UltraScreen™ to be implemented as a direct result of its unique ability to combine sorted homogenous cell sub-population capture with leading edge cellular and molecular assays in a cost effective, simultaneous, simple, rugged and scalable-to-HTS format.

Beyond the Microtiter Plate to Sorted Homogeneous Cell Sub-Population Assays Currently high throughput screening is predominately performed on samples derived from heterogeneous cell populations. A primary reason for this limitation is the overdependence of the pharmaceutical research community on microtiter plate platforms which are inherently unsuited for the capture, sorting and assay of targeted sub-populations of cells in a high throughput environment.

UltraScreen as implemented on The UltraPlatform™ goes beyond microtiter plates because:

  • It is flexible enough to handle homogeneous cell sub-population analysis in a high throughput environment.
  • It permits dual FISH/Immunofluorescence analysis of sorted homogeneous target cell populations.
  • It enables more rapid and flexible cell engineering and expansion applications.
  • It eliminates the need for slow and cumbersome cell culture steps in many applications.
  • It is a rapid, cost effective, less labor intensive, and highly flexible approach to drug discovery and research.
